The calculator was developed in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology Umsicht in Oberhausen. The calculation tool enables the balancing of greenhouse gas emissions and energy costs in enclosed spaces. The use of building-internal optimisations, such as automatic drop seals, can ideally save up to 1,268 kg* of greenhouse gas (in Germany).

With the online tool, different door types can be selected and the greenhouse gas savings calculated. The energy expenditure for the installation of doors with and without a floor gap is calculated comparatively. The personal eco-balance is calculated in just a few seconds.

This results in the cost and greenhouse gas savings. Even though the amount of savings depends on the climatic and energy-related conditions, the calculator clearly shows for individual situations that the use of automatic drop seals saves energy costs and thus reduces CO₂ emissions.
